Ted Deacey — editor, colourist & filmmaker

Hello.

I'm Ted, a freelance editor & colourist currently working in Melbourne/Naarm.

Ted originally graduated as a graphic designer from the University of Tasmania and relocated to Melbourne, where he worked in multiple AGDA award winning design studios, honing skills in typography, branding and motion design.

He also pursued an interest in audio production – landing a spot in Dave Ruby Howe’s (Triple J) ‘Top Upcoming Producers to Watch’ and supporting Flume, Lunice and Flight Facilities on local tours.

More recently, his love for film drew him naturally into the world of post-production – where he taps into all aspects of his experience to develop and refine rich stories for the screen.

Since becoming a colourist, he has worked on a range of TVCs, short films and music videos – and strives to perpetually develop his own taste and style, typically embodying a rich sense of saturation and texture.

In 2021, he directed his first short film ‘Pinata’ – an award winning pitch black dark comedy starring Francis Greenslade, which premiered at Oscar Qualifying Film Festival, Izmir International (Turkey).

He also is the regular colourist for PHC Films, where he has graded both 16mm and digital clips for King Gizzard, DJ Shadow and Amyl and the Sniffers.

All are welcome to attend edit or colour sessions in-suite (Brunswick 3056) – or collaborate via remote process.
